Nepal is a land of unbelievable diversity, in geography, people, culture and religion. A land so rich in myths, lore and beliefs, reality often extends to the mystic, and many a weary traveler has discovered 'Shangrila' or 'Shambhala' in its realm. In its benevolent folds, the ancient fuses with modernity, while the trident of the Pashupatinath stands tall under the gaze of the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha. This is the land of the Buddha, and so of the Pashupatinath.

Tolerance and harmony is the second nature in this land of many religions and people; the diverse cultures and traditions enriching its colorful and mystical profile. Adopted by the flower children as tranquil haven in the 1960's, life here still retains a touch of the medieval, untouched by the grasp of modernity, even as the world has moved well in to the new millennium.

Nepal hold the special distinction of being the only Hindu Kingdom in the world (as of 2006), with Pashupatinath being its guardian deity. Buddhism however traces its roots to this Hindu Kingdom through Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha. The culture and the religion of this land thus reflect a seamless fusion of Hinduism and Buddhism. The chant of the Om Mani Padme Hum reverberates in the hills and the peaks of the Nepal Himalayas in unison with the tolling of the temple bells. The secular nature of the people, closely knit by bonds of kinship that pervades cultural, religious and ethnic barriers, the true essence of this land.
